About Hexes and Hyperlanes

Welcome to Hexes and Hyperlanes, a site dedicated to strategy, 4X, tactics, and thoughtful games of all types.

This is a place for players who enjoy more than just winning. It is for people who like understanding why a strategy works, how systems interact, what makes a faction interesting, and why some games keep pulling us back for one more turn.

At Hexes and Hyperlanes, I write about the games I am playing, the mechanics that stand out, and the decisions that make strategy games so rewarding. Expect deep genre analysis, practical strategy guides, reflections on current playthroughs, opinion pieces, and discussion about everything from empire-building 4X games to tight tactical battles and long-form campaign experiences.

My goal is to build a site that respects the depth of these games. Strategy games are not just about maps, numbers, and build orders. They are about pressure, planning, tradeoffs, adaptation, and the stories that emerge when a good system pushes back.

What You Will Find Here

Hexes and Hyperlanes will cover:

  • Deep analysis of strategy, 4X, and tactics games
  • Strategy guides and practical tips
  • Thoughts on games I am currently playing
  • Breakdowns of mechanics, factions, systems, and design choices
  • Discussion of classic titles, new releases, expansions, and hidden gems
  • Commentary on where the strategy genre is going and what makes it special

Whether I am writing about galactic empires, fantasy kingdoms, historical campaigns, tactical squads, or weird experimental strategy games, the focus will always be the same: thoughtful discussion from someone who genuinely loves the genre.

A Note on Images and AI

Whenever possible, I will use official images, screenshots, press materials, or assets that properly represent the games being discussed. There may be times when official images are not easy to access or when a general visual is needed for a broader topic. In those cases, I may use AI-generated images sparingly.

AI images will not be the foundation of this site. They are only a visual tool when appropriate.

The writing itself is mine. Every article, guide, opinion, and analysis reflects my own voice, my own thinking, and my own experience with the games I cover. AI may occasionally help with formatting or visual support, but the perspective, judgment, and commentary come from me.

Why Hexes and Hyperlanes?

Because strategy games live in the space between the small decision and the massive consequence.

A single hex can decide a battle.
A single hyperlane can decide an empire.
A single choice can change the course of an entire campaign.

That is the kind of gaming this site is built around.

Thanks for being here. Pull up the map, check the borders, scout the unknown, and stay a few turns longer.
